Voting Education:

A lack of confidence in our elections is the greatest threat to our democracy...

We will not always agree on who is the best choice to lead our country, but voting and accepting the outcome of elections are critical to America's democracy.

Facts

Most elections are decided by very slim margins:

  • 2016 POTUS election decided by 80,000 votes spread over WI, MI, PA
  • 2020 POTUS election decided by 44,000 votes spread over GA, AZ, WI
  • In 2016, the POTUS won WI by 22,748 votes, or .7% of the total
  • In 2020, the POTUS won WI by 20,682 votes, or .6% of the total
  • In 2018, 1,078 state legislative elections won by a margin of 10% or less

Due to claims of voter fraud:

  • As of January 6th, 2021, 62 lawsuits were filed to overturn election results, with 61 defeated
  • A total of 475 fraudulent votes were found amongst the six battleground states – not remotely close to the amount needed to overturn the election in any state
  • 66% of Republicans, 28% of Independents, and 3% of Democrats believe election was stolen

Current states with less than 1% margins which had major changes to their 2020 voting laws:

  • Decreased ballot drop-off box locations
  • Created barriers to mail-in ballots
  • Restricted voting hours
  • Empowered partisan legislative bodies over career election officials

Education

Many election officials are struggling to explain to their constituents how the voting system is safeguarded, that their elections are conducted without fraud, and why Americans should trust the system in place. One Nation Movement works to amplify these messages in support of these goals.
