Climate Change is real, it is at an unprecedented level in human history, and the longer we wait to acknowledge it and find answers, the more difficult the repercussions will become. We must work now to find solutions which will solve the problem but also have as minimal of an impact on our economy and lives as possible.
Today, we are witnessing CO2 levels which have never been seen before in human history. In fact, for over 1 million years, CO2 levels have never exceeded 300 ppm. In 1950 we crossed that threshold. Since 1950, it has doubled. (Credit NASA).
CO2 is the primary driver for the increased heating of the planet. The burning of fossil fuels, deforestation and changes in how we use land are the primary reason for the increase of CO2. Thus, human activity is the primary driver of today's climate change.
Surface temperatures have risen 2.12 degrees Fahrenheit since the late 19th century. Yet, most of that warming has occurred in the last 40 years - with the last seven being the warmest.
"Scientific evidence for the warming of the climate system is unequivocal." - Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
